Achari Paneer recipe / Paneer masala / Achari masala recipe with step by step photos. Achari paneer is a spicy and tangy paneer masala recipe and it has all the pickling spices and it is perfect side dish recipe to serve with any indian flat breads. Pickled paneer is a popular north Indian dish and if you love pickle then this recipe is for you.

Achaari paneer is best served with roti, jeera rice or even with plain basmati rice.

Ingredients
  

To make spice powder

  • 3 Red chili
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tbsp Coriander seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/8 tsp Fenugreek / methi seeds
  • 1/8 tsp kalonji

To make achari paneer masala

  • 200 gms Paneer cut into cubes
  • 1/4 cup Capsicum optional
  • 1/2 cup Chopped onion
  • 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chili powder
  • 1/2 cup Tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup Curd or Yogurt
  • 1/4 tsp Asafeotida
  • 1 tbsp Oil mustard oil or any vegetable oil
  • Salt as per taste
  • Water

Instructions
 

To make achari masala

  • Firstly in a pan dry roast red chili, cumin, mustard, methi seeds, kalonji, coriander seeds in medium flame till it turns aromatic
  • Once it cool downs add it to a blender jar and blend it to fine powder and set aside

To make achari paneer

  • Heat a pan with some oil and add chopped onion and saute till it turns golden
  • Now add the ground achari masala, chili powder, turmeric and mix it well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute string occasionally
  • Add ginger garlic paste and saute it till the raw smell leaves
  • Now add tomato puree and cook till it ozzes out oil
  • Add fresh whisked curd / yogurt (do not add sour curd) and mix it well
  • Then add cubed capsicum, add salt and cover and cook on medium flame for 7-8 minutes
  • Then add paneer cubes add water if required and mix it well and further cook for 5 minutes and switch of the flame
  • Finally garnish it with coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or hot rice

Notes

Do not more mustard seeds and methi seeds as it may result in better taste
Add fresh curd / yogurt do not add sour curd, whisk the curd before adding it 
You can skip capsicum and add only paneer cubes
