Osmania biscuit is very popular biscuit recipe in Hyderabad mainly in Karachi bakery. Osmania biscuit is named after the nizam Mir osman ali khan. I like Karachi bakery biscuits and I wanted to try this delicious osmania biscuits at home from long time. And finally I made it few weeks back and it tasted super delicious. So last weekend again my husband insisted me for this biscuits so made it again and I clicked the pictures to share  here.

These osmania biscuits are very easy to make and requires basic pantry ingredients. But the actual recipe calls for soy flour which is not easily available at my place so I added some milk powder to it.

The Ingredients that you will require

Saffron

All purpose flour / Maida

Custard powder

Milk powder

Baking powder

Sugar

Salt

Butter

Milk

Osmania biscuit / How to make osmania biscuit

I like Karachi bakery biscuits and I wanted to try this delicious osmania biscuits at home from long time. And finally I made it few weeks back and it tasted super delicious. – Soak the saffron in hot milk for sometime
– In a large bowl take butter and powdered sugar and beat it well with hand whisk or electric beater untill it turns fluffy
– To that add custard powder, milk powder, salt
– Now add all purpose flour/maida, cardamom powder and mix well and form a dough.. Do not knead just combine
– In a work surface dust some flour and roll the dough
– Using a bottle cap or cookie cutter cut the biscuits into the shapes
– Place the biscuits on a tray and brush the saffron milk on top brush it
– And bake it in preheated oven for 20 minutes at 180 degree C
– Serve it with coffee or tea

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Maida
  • 1.5 tbsp Custard powder 
  • 1.5 tbsp Milk powder
  • 1/2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Powered sugar
  • 1/2 cup Butter (room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • Saffron strands (few)

Instructions
 

  • Soak the saffron in hot milk for sometime
  • In a large bowl take butter and powdered sugar and beat it well with hand whisk or electric beater untill it turns fluffy
  • To that add custard powder, milk powder, salt 
  • Now add all purpose flour/maida, cardamom powder and mix well
  • And form a dough.. Do not knead just combine
  • In a work surface dust some flour and roll the dough and using a bottle cap or  cookie cutter cut the biscuits into the shapes
  • Place the biscuits on a tray and brush the saffron milk on top brush it
  • And bake it in preheated oven for 20 minutes  at 180 degree C
  • Serve it with coffee or tea

Notes

Pre heat the oven for at least 10 minutes
 
Soak saffron in hot milk 
 
Generously apply the saffron milk on top of the biscuits
