Chole masala| Punjabi chole| Chickpeas Curry| How to prepare chana masala with detailed step by step photos. Chana masala/chole masala is delicious and flavorful curry. It prepared with cooked chickpeas and also with onion tomato based masala. This chana masala goes with poori, roti, parathas and rice.
- Soak the channa for 8 hour and pressure cook for 5 whistles
- Now take the roughly chopped onion ginger and garlic and make puree and keep aside,in a blender take roughly chopped tomato and make puree
- Heat some oil in a kadai, add cinnamom , bay leave and jeera
- Now add the onion and ginger garlic puree and saute it
- Add chole masala, turmeric and chilli powder and saute it well
- Further add tomato puree and cook till it ozzes out oil
- Add the cooked chana and mix well and add water if required use the stock of chana and cook for 2 minutes on high flame
- When it starts boiling add the mashed channa this is optional and mix well and cover for cook for 5 minutes
- Finally add kasuri methi and garam masala and switch off the flame

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Kabulichanna/vellai sundal
  • 2 no Onion (roughly chopped)
  • 2 no Tomato (roughly chopped)
  • Ginger (small)
  • 5-6 pods Garlic
  • 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 3 tsp Chana/Chole masala powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • Cinnamom (small)
  • 1 no Bay leave
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin/jeera
  • Water (as required)
  • Salt (as per taste)

Instructions
 

  • Soak the channa for 8 hour and pressure cook for 5 whistles

Mashing the cooked chana and adding in curry is optional
