Chana dal chutney | Kadalai paruppu chutney | How to prepare chana dal chutney recipe with detailed step by step photos. This chana dal chutney or kadalai paruppu chutney is made of red chillis, curry leaves hing. The chana dal chutney is a perfect combination with hot idlis , dosa and also for rice.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 cup Chana dal / kadalai paruppu
  • 3 Red chilli
  • Few Curry leaves
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida/ Hing / perungayam
  • 1/2 cup Coconut
  • 2 tsp oil
  • salt ( as per taste )
  • 1/4 cup Water

For tempering

  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard
  • 1 Reds chilli
  • few curry leaves

Instructions
 

  • In a kadai heat 2 tsp oil and add Chana dal / kadalai paruppu and fry till colour changes
  • Now add red chilli , curry leaves and hing and saute
  • Further add coconut and mix and switch off the flame
  • Add the mixture to blending jar and add small tamarind, salt and little water to grind
  • Blend it to Coarse( not too coarse and not too smooth blend it like i have shown in the picture)

For Tempering

  • Now heat some oil and add mustard seeds and once it splutter add red chilli and curry leaves and add it to chutney
  • Serve the chana dal chutney with dosa and idli

Notes

Adjust  the spice level according to your taste
You can also add onion and tomato to this chutney
You can also make this chutney smooth
