Tandoori chicken recipe / Tandoori chicken without oven / how to make Tandoori chicken with microwave / chicken recipe with detailed instruction and step by step recipes. Tandoori chicken is smoky flavored chicken, it is marinated with few masalas and spices for hours and then grilled in oven or clay oven or tandoor or in a stove top. Tandoori chicken is one the popular menu in indian restaurants.
To marinate the chicken
- Wash and clean the chicken legs and make cuts on the chicken with a sharp knife this helps to absorb the masala
- Rub the lemon juice well on the chicken legs
- Then add pepper powder and chili powder and rub it well on the chicken, cover it and keep it in fridge for 30 minutes
Second marination
- For second marination, In bowl take hung curd, chili powder, garam masala, chicken masala, ginger garlic paste and salt and mix it well
- Now marinate the chicken well till it reaches deep inside
- Cover the marinated chicken and rest it in fridge overnight or minimum 4 hours and take the chicken outside the fridge prior 30 minutes before cooking
To Make tandoori chicken
- Heat a pan with butter or mustard oil
- Place the marinated chicken on the pan and cook it on medium to high heat
- Flip the chicken and cook on the both sides
- Flip them again and cook till the chicken is completely cooked (At this stage you can place a piece of live charcoal and pour some ghee over it and cover it for 5-10 minutes to get smoky flavor )
- Serve it hot with green chutney or mayo

Ingredients
  

To make tandoori chicken

  • 2 Chicken legs

For first marinade

  • 1/4 tsp Chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper optional
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice

For second marinade

  • 1/4 cup Hung curd or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp Garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp Chicken masala
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 4 tbsp Oil or butter Preferably mustard oil
  • 2 tsp Salt

Notes

Marination is the key to get best tandoori chicken hence do marinate it for at least 4 hours 
You can  also use breast piece to make tandoori chicken
You can use readymade tandoori masala  instead of all these masala 
To make it in oven place the marinated chicken in pre heated oven and bake it or grill it for 20-25 minutes
