It is easy to make and also can be made quickly. I love to make one pot dishes not only because it is time saving also its easy to pack for kids lunch box.
Pulao is one pot dish of rice, veggies or meat cooked together with herbs and spices. There are many variation in making pulav like veg pulao, peas pulav, chicken pulao, Kashmiri pulao and many. Peas pulao tastes best on its own or you can pair it with simple onion raita (yogurt based dish).
I used coconut milk to make this pulao, this enhances the taste of the pulav however if you do not want to add coconut milk you can skip that completely and use only water.
Easy Peas pulao recipe / One pot matar pulav
Ingredients
To make Peas pulav
- 1½ cup Basmati rice
- 1 cup Peas
- 1 big Onion
- 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
- 3-4 Green chilies
- handful of Coriander leaves
- handful of Mint leaves
- 2 inch Cinnamon
- 1 Bay leaf
- 4 Cloves
- ½ tsp Fennel seeds
- 1 tbsp Ghee
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 2 cups Coconut milk
- ½ cup Water
- Salt
Instructions
To make Peas pulao
- Heat oil & ghee in a pressure cooker then add whole spices and saute them for a minute
- Add thinly sliced onions and fry till it turns golden
- Next add ginger garlic paste, green chilies, chopped coriander and mint leaves and saute till raw smell goes away
- Add fresh or frozen peas
- Next add soaked basmati rice
- Then add coconut milk & water
- Now add required salt and gently mix it then close the lid and pressure cook for 1 whistle on high flame
- Remove the lid once the pressure release on its own
- Serve it with any spicy Indian curries
