Mangalore buns | Banana buns | Sweet poori |How to prepare banana poori with detailed step by step photos. This recipe made with Maida / all-purpose flour , mashed banana and cumin/jeera. These buns are mildly sweet  and deep fried in oil. Mangalore buns or sweet banana pooris recipe is from Mangalore Karnataka. I usually make it for breakfast and pair it with coconut chutney. As this recipe has mild sweetness jeera adds different flavour to this. So it goes well with potato sagu (potato masala). It can also served with evening snacks as well.

For mangalore buns the fermented dough is used. So to prepare it for breakfast you should prepare the dough previous night. After preparing the dough It has be outside for 8 hours.

Fermentation process makes buns  soft Usually. And buns are prepare with Maida / all-purpose flour. But you can prepare it with whole wheat flour or half-half the both flours. You can adjust the sugar measurement as per your taste. And the sweetness of the banana. Riped banana works well for these Mangalore buns. These buns are mildly sweet  and deep fried in oil. Mangalore buns or sweet banana pooris recipe is from Mangalore Karnataka. I usually make it for breakfast and pair it with coconut chutney. – In a mixing bowl take 1 cup smashed banana
– Add¼ cup curd and add 2 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp baking soda mix well
– Further add 1 tsp jeera and mix well
– Now add 2 cups maida / all purpose flour and then prepare the dough
– Knead for 5 minutes or till it becomes  non-sticky dough
– Apply some oil on top and cover and rest it for 8 hours
– After 8 hours the dough has raised slightly, knead it once
– Now make a take a small ball sized dough and roll it to  a thick  poori
– Deep fry the buns in hot oil and fry the buns on both the sides , flame should be in medium
– Once it becomes golden brown take it out

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cup Maida/all purpose flour
  • 1 cup Banana (smashed)
  • 1/4 cup Curd
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Cumin/Jeera

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl take 1 cup smashed banana
  • Add ¼ cup curd
  • Add 2 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp baking soda mix well
  • Further add 1 tsp jeera and mix well
  • Now add 2 cups maida / all purpose flour
  • Now prepare the dough
  • Knead for 5 minutes or till it becomes  non-sticky dough
  • Apply some oil on top and cover and rest it for 8 hours
  • After 8 hours the dough has raised slightly, knead it once
  • Now make a take a small ball sized dough and roll it to  a thick  poori
  • Deep fry the buns in hot oil
  • Fry the buns on both the sides , flame should be in medium
  • Once it becomes golden brown take it out

Notes

 This dough should be fermented for 8 hrs or more till the dough has raised
You can adjust the sweetness according to your taste
Smash the banana using fork, make sure that its not blended in mixer
