Yogurt Chicken roast / Chicken roast recipe / Chicken roast in Oven recipes with detailed step by step photos. Yogurt chicken roast is one of the simple and yet delicious chicken cook with yogurt and few spices. It requires few ingredients. These chicken are moist tender and flavorful. This yogurt/curd marinade takes few minutes to put all the ingredients together.
I usually make grilled chicken or chili chicken when ever i have guests coming. Few weeks ago I bought whole chicken thighs and was wondering what to cook other than grilled/tandoori chicken. I surfed lots of recipe and finally decide to make this yogurt chicken roast. I adapted this recipe from one of the old you tube video. To tell the truth first I was skeptical about the taste and as we use only few spices with lots of yogurt. Somehow i made it and the final output was super hit as everyone liked it lot and the chicken is juicy and its delicious.
So this time i made this yogurt chicken for weekend dinner and i captured the photos to post it here.
How the Yogurt Chicken roast made
Firstly clean the chicken pieces and make slit and rub it with lemon juice, black pepper, and salt and there goes the first marination now rest it for 15 minutes.
In a bowl combine curd, garlic, green chili, chili flakes, coriander leaves, lemon zest and salt give it a good mix and apply the marinade to the chicken and cover and rest it for 4-5 hours . Then bake it in pre heated oven for 20-30 minutes or till done.
You can make this yogurt chicken roast with Chicken breast piece or with chicken leg piece also.

Ingredients
- 2 Chicken Thighs or breasts or leg piece
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- Salt as per taste
- 2 tsp Pepper
- 1 cup Yogurt / Curd You can reduce it to 3/4 th cup
- 1 tsp Lemon zest from 1 lemon
- 1 tsp Chili flakes
- 1 tsp Green chili & Garlic paste
- Mixed herbs Optional
- Coriander leaves
- Oil
Instructions
- Clean the chicken thighs and make incisions on it so that it absorbs the masala
- Squeeze the lemon juice
- Add salt and pepper and rub it completely on the chicken and marinate for 10 to 15 minutes
- In a bowl take yogurt/curd/ dahi . chili flakes, green chili and garlic paste, lemon zest and mixed herbs and mix everything well
- Now add freshly chopped Coriander leaves and salt mix it (adjust the salt as we had already added salt)
- Apply this Yogurt mixture to the chicken and coat it well on both the sides and cover and keep it in fridge for 4-5 hours.
- Take it out and arrange the marinated chicken on baking tray and apply all the left over marinade on them. Place the tray on the pre heated oven and bake it for 25-30 minutes at 180 degree celsius
- Serve it hot with spicy green chutney
