The original recipe is made without sugar but we like with little sugar in it but its absolutely optional and you can skip it. To make it indian style biscuits you can add kasuri methi, cumin/ jeera and ajwain/ carom seeds to the dough
Ingredients for cheese biscuits
All purpose flour this recipe is made with all purpose flour / maida, you can replace it wheat flour but the taste and texture differs
Baking powder is used as leavening agent
Spices I like to use pepper powder and chili powder in cheese cookies You can use ajwain, kasuri methi for that Indian flavour
Butter it gives buttery flavor and nice texture to the recipe
Cheese as these are are cheese cookies i have used cheddar cheese here which is easily available at my place
Sugar I like to use little sugar in my cheese cookies but you can skip it completely
Salt
Milk used as binding agent you can also use buttermilk instead

5 Ingredient cheese biscuits / Masala cheese biscuits
Ingredients
- 2 cups All purpose flour / Maida
- 1.5 tsp baking powder
- a pinch of Salt
- 2 tbsp Powdered sugar
- 1/4 tsp Chili powder
- 1/4 tsp Pepper powder
- 3/4 cup Butter Cold
- 1.5 cup Cheddar cheese or Parmesan
- 1/2 cup Chilled Milk or buttermilk
Instructions
- Firstly shred the cheddar cheese and set it aside
- In a large mixing bowl take all purpose flour / maida add salt, powdered sugar, chili powder and pepper powder and mix it well
- Add the chopped cold butter
- And rub it well with the flour using your finger tips and it should resemble like a bread crumbs
- Now add the shredded cheddar cheese and mix it well with the flour
- Now add slowly add buttermilk
- And combine it into a dough do not knead it. if butter starts to melting keep the dough covered in fridge and rest for minutes and then proceed it
- Pre heat the oven at 180 degree celsius for 10 minutes and grease the baking tray or line it with baking sheet
- Now gently roll the dough using a rolling pin into a square
- Now cut it into 2 inch square
- Arrange the biscuits into baking tray and place it in a pre heated oven for 20 -25 minutes
- Or till the top turns golden color
- Take it out and serve it warm or once it cool downs trsnsfer it to a air tight container and store in room temperature
